Bengaluru, Aug 17: In an inhuman incident reported by an old age home run by 'Usuru Foundation' within the limits of RMC Yard police station here, an aged inmate was murdered by another inmate by hitting her repeatedly with a stick and a chair.
The victim of the incident was Kamalamma (82) from Nagarbavi here. The accused, Vasantha (64), has been arrested. It is said that Vasatha was irked by Kamalamma's shouts asking for food. Yogesh, head of the old age home, has been arrested on the allegation of confining Kamalamma in a closed room, not providing food to her and also torturing the lady. Wardens Prema, John and Bhaskar, who have been accused of destroying evidence, and Manjunath, who had taken away the DVR of the CCTV cameras at the facility, stand arrested.
Kamalamma was the wife of a retired assistant police sub-inspector of police from Bhattarahalli on Old Madras Road here. The couple have two sons and two daughters. Kamalamma was suffering from amnesia and her son Ramachandra, had admitted her into the old age home for providing her treatment. He paid Rs 10,000 every month to the old age home. Kamalamma, who suffered from psychological problems, often shouted wildly because of which she was kept in confinement. It is said that she was provided with food only once in two to three days and she used to shout demanding food which irritated the others.
