Bengaluru, Aug 18: Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr K Sudhakar said the State Government has identified children with low immunity levels in Bengaluru Rural district and take measures to improve their health.

Addressing a meeting for reviewing the Covid-19 pandemic control situation in Bengaluru Rural district on Wednesday, the minister said steps are being taken in accordance with the recommendations of the Technical Advisory Committee to prepare for the possible Covid third wave.

He said the Bengaluru Rural district had low positivity rate and steps are being taken to ensure that all the Covid positive cases were shifted to Covid Care Centres for treatment.

Testing should not be reduced and must be continued. Many of the children in the district were found to be having respiratory and other ailments besides malnutrition. All such cases will be provided with necessary treatment.

Dr Sudhakar said the Chief Minister will be launching the Arogya Nandana programme for health check-up of 1.5 crore children in a week.

He said steps are being taken to ensure that all people were administered both doses of vaccines by the end of December.

The minister promised to establish district headquarters and district hospital after discussing with the Chief Minister. At least one or two paediatric and maternity hospitals will also be started and work will begin by this year. As many as 142 primary health care centres in the district will be upgraded, he added.
