Mangaluru, Aug 19: With Afghanistan being taken over by Taliban, many Indians are stuck in the country from the city. Their respective organizations are in the process of shifting them out of Afghanistan. Native of Ullal, Melwyn, was also one of them.

Melwyn safely returned back to India in the Indian Air Force (IAF) plane from Kabul on Wednesday August 18. He is working in the electrical maintenance department of the military base camp hospital of NATO at Kabul. His brother is stuck in Afghanistan itself and is expected to return to India soon.

Speaking after reaching India, Melwyn said, “In total, 160 people including seven employees of our company, along with personnel and security of the Indian embassy in Kabul, were airlifted from Kabul at 5 am on Wednesday and brought to IAF base at Jamnagar. From there, we were taken to Delhi and then to Bengaluru. I arrived in Ullal on Thursday August 19.

“Our organization has shifted other people of Indian origin working in our company to various places like Norway, London and Qatar. They will be kept in quarantine there and will return to India after completing the isolation period.”

Melwyn’s brother Demy is working as an air-conditioning mechanic at the Kabul military base camp. He is waiting for a flight at Kabul airport to go back to India. Melwyn informed that his brother is safe at the airport.

The applause is ear shattering as every Indian lands safely on our soil.. Those who believe that the Taliban have changed colors n are singing praises in honour of their medieval, barbaric ideology, must undertake reverse migration from India to Kabul..

Not sure if there was failure of assessing ground situation as the Australians pulled back in July itself- ---- Of course if all INDIANS have come back safely it is great ---but to wait till last minute risking life for people who have gone to do Service jobs etc - not army service - was it stretching risks too far by their companies -- Just an hour or so to get out and reach anywhere closest in India but still waited midnight --and some still stuck -

real kujuma, kodial . Nahi re baba. India is a very very safe haven for minorities. Thats the lesson you have to learn from the whole Afghan episode. There are some jo theli mein kaathe hain wohi pe ched karte hain.. yeah you can see the ones who have pleaded for immigration in other European countries, US, Canada etc and uni kaa hi maara. Every immigrant destination is xxrwed today due to some people. And all these have a common factor,,

Welcome bro. to your native place. Govt made quick arrangements to secure our citizens. We should always be very grateful. Still there seems to be many more struck at various places. Definately it's a herculean task for the Govt to release their citizens because nobody anticipated Afghan Govt forces will fall to Taliban forces so soon. When so many Afghans themselves trying to run away, imagine the plight of foreigners there!
