Bengaluru, Aug 28: Minister for primary and secondary education, B C Nagesh, has said that the government does not propose to cut down on the syllabus of the children in the current academic year. When agreeing that the schools have started functioning three months behind schedule, he said that the syllabus can be completed if it is possible to conduct all the classes and if certain holidays are cut short.

"We will issue instructions to complete the syllabus within the specified time by cutting down certain holidays. We will ask the concerned to prepare a time table of academic activities accordingly," he clarified when replying to questions of media persons in Tiptur.

Because of the coronavirus infection, during the last year, physical classes could not be conducted. Therefore, for SSLC and second PU, 30 percent cut had been affected in the syllabus. This year too, classes have begun three months late. Although online classes were held, the rural students faced network problem. The teaching staff have been demanding to cut down on the syllabus as classes have begun late.
