Mangalore, Oct 2: The two-day national seminar on Konkani Ramayanas was inaugurated at World Konkani Centre, Shaktinagar here on Saturday October 2.
Konkani writer and thinker, advocate Uday Bhembre inaugurated the seminar and delivered the keynote address.
In his keynote address, he said that it is very important that we convey to our new generation the ethos for which our gods such as Rama and Hanuman stood for then. Merely telling the children that they are gods will not suffice. The values and good virtues that have elevated them to the status of God too need to be introduced to our children from the very beginning, he observed. Citing an instance, he said it is very important to tell our children that Nagas, who rever as serpent god today might have been a human race that lived in that era among others.
The work on research on Ramayanas through Konkani literature began in 20th century and has now gained speed with 21st century. A lot of research is yet to be undertaken on the subject, Ramayana, he observed.
