Mangaluru: NEP not implemented in haste – Dr Ashwath Narayan

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Aug 30: “Some people are saying that the government is trying to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) in haste. This is not correct. Lots of discussions have taken place in this regard. It is a myth that this policy is ‘saffronisation’ of the country. Let anyone show the points that are against the students in this policy. We will use the present subjects itself during the implementation of NEP. But the students have separate opportunity to choose the subjects,” said higher education minister Dr Ashwath Narayan.

Dr Narayan was speaking the Mangalore University on Monday August 30.

He further said, “Proper project was formed in order to implement NEP. This is being done to bring reform in the education sector. More options are given to students of Arts. Priority will be given to inter-discipline.

“If there is no changes in the education sector, it will like stagnant water. Our students have to compete at the global level. NEP will reform education from nursery school to highest education. This is proved worldwide. This is not against the students. In the coming years, there will be reforms in administrative side. Due to Covid there are some obstacles,” he said.

Education reforms is a must. We need to compete with the developed countries. But religion should not mix with education that is only my wish.

If the news article mentions about NEP, first we have to understand what is it, how it is useful. It doesn't matter which government is bringing the changes as long as it is for the benefit of the society. The fact is we are far behind in education. Our syllabus is old, teaching method is outdated and once out of college nobody is capable of working. So, if government is trying to bring new method of teaching it should be encouraged. It won't be perfect but atleast they are trying. In the future NEP can be refined for the benefit of the students.
