Udupi, Oct 29: Navil D’Souza, a 40-year-old resident of Thottam, Udupi, has been running a small juice shop by the seaside near Thottam. Together with his wife, he led a simple and content life, sustained by modest earnings and humble dreams.
Unfortunately, his life took a tragic turn when he was diagnosed with infective endocarditis, a serious infection affecting the heart. After thorough medical examinations, doctors informed him that his condition is critical and requires major heart surgeries. Following medical advice, Navil was admitted to Narayana Hrudayalaya, Bengaluru, for advanced treatment.
Navil has been in the Critical Care Unit (CCU) for the past 15–20 days, enduring immense pain and suffering. His family, relatives, friends, and parishioners from Thottam came together to raise funds to cover the initial hospital expenses at Manipal Hospital and part of the treatment costs at Narayana Hrudayalaya.
However, the total estimated cost of treatment is around Rs 10 lac, which is far beyond the family’s means. Navil’s wife, who works in a co-operative society, has been doing everything possible, but the financial burden remains overwhelming.
The family is now appealing to kind-hearted donors for financial assistance to help Navil receive the life-saving treatment he urgently needs.
