Mangalore, October 4: Inspector general of police (western range) Alok Mohan said that naxal activities in the twin districts and neighbouring districts are under check with tight police vigilance in the naxal-infested areas.
He was addressing mediapersons here on Monday October 4. The continuous efforts of the police department and anti-naxal force in the region has seen that the naxal menace has been on a gradual decline with tight check on their activities.
He hoped that the state's surrender and rehabilitation package to the naxals will bring in positive results, assuring that the naxals surrendering will get benefits such as protection and financial assistance to come into the main stream and also withdrawal of cases under certain conditions.
Giving further details he said the surrender policy has been categorized into Red Zone, Grey Zone, and Green Zone. While the Red Zone includes listed underground naxals, the Grey Zone and Green Zone include unlisted and active naxals, respectively.
Praising the people and leaders of the region for maintaining peace before and after Ayodhya verdict, he also made special mention about the restraint the media showed in disseminating the news.
