12 Dissident Karnataka BJP Legislators in Mumbai, May Go to Goa

Mumbai, Oct 7 (IANS) A group of 12 dissident legislators from Karnataka's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), including four ministers, arrived here from Kerala early Thursday and are holed up at Mumbai Airport, party sources said.

The dozen strong group of BJP legislators had planned to travel to Shirdi in Maharashtra Thursday morning, but owing to security considerations abandoned the proposal. Temporarily housed in the airport, they are likely to catch a flight to Goa later in the day and stay there for the next three days or so, the sources said.

The 29-month-old BJP government in Karnataka was Wednesday reduced to a minority in the 225-member assembly after 19 lawmakers, including 14 from the ruling party, submitted a joint letter to the governor withdrawing support and expressing lack of confidence in Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa.

A senior Maharashtra BJP leader, Vinod Tawde, received the 12 legislators around 1.30 a.m. at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport and made arrangements to make them comfortable while in transit. They arrived from Kochi.

Tawde also conveyed a personal message from senior party leader L.K. Advani to the group. He, however, declined to name the legislators who have come to Mumbai or the contents of Advani's message to them.

A party spokesperson told IANS that "we have made the arrangements" as required for the group of legislators. "Beyond that, we are not involved in the issue in any manner," he asserted.

Karnataka Governor H.R. Bhardwaj has directed Yeddurappa to prove that he enjoyed the confidence of the house by 5 p.m. on Oct 12. However, Yeddyurappa said he would do it a day earlier.

"I have requested Governor H.R. Bhardwaj to convene the assembly session Monday (Oct 11) at 10 a.m. I am confident of proving majority on the floor of the house," an unfazed Yeddyurappa told reporters outside Raj Bhavan Wednesday.

Yeddys days are counted, his Graha Ghathi is not good, no Guru bala, he was born on 27th feb 1943 at Boobakere. Yest one Pandith said, his prayers at Kerala are sufficient to save him. He will last till April 2011, and never come back to power in future. Poor fellow he should have given full term.

I think Yeddy might have understood the situation...if he succeed in this test..his hand will be tied up for ever,he will be the rubber stam CM for karnataka. He is trying to become Narendra modi which is highly impossible in his carrier.Modi has a capacity to win the seat at muslim dominated area since gujarath muslims are liking him and that he has proved in recent bye election, this is the difference to Modi and Eddy.Hence forth he will not go for any reshuffle on his own.any way all the best BJP.

Our political system and the political parties should reform and make it a vibrant democratic system with ethical value. Do the MLAs who had won seat in the name of BJP or any other party have any moral right to herd themselves in some luxury hotel/resort and wait for the opposition parties to purchase them as if they are slaves?

Such elected representatives have no right to represent us and better disqualify them. BJP is famous for Kamala Yatra to horse trade with other MLAs that is a cheap practice by any mature political party. Now JDS is hoarding and hopping BJP MLAs from one hotel/resort to another from Kerala, TN to Maharashtra. Some cheap politicians who have climbed the ladder to become MLAs and later ministers are irresponsible dirty politicians enjoying the luxury of the resort and waiting some one to purchase them for 20-30 Crores than serving their constitution that is their prime responsibility. Shame on them.

As long as you have illegally looted mining money in crores, you can buy any MLA or Ministers to prove majority. You know very well that all politicians of all political parties are hungry, shameless, criminal minded creatures same like you or may be you are one step ahead of them. Down with you and your party cranky baby.
