Mangalore, Oct 12: The president, office-bearers and the directors of the board of Kanara Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) along with the corporation of Delta, British Columbia, Canada held an interactive meeting on the twinning of the two cites of Mangalore and Delta for economic cooperation and development at Hotel Gold Finch here on Tuesday Oct 12.

G G Mohandas Prabhu, president, KCCI, welcomed the gathering.

Speaking exclusively to Daijiworld, Lois E Jackson, mayor of Delta, British Columbia, Canada, said that the MoU which was signed on Tuesday will improve the bilateral relation of the cities in import and export business.

She also hoped that the MoU would facilitate the exploration of the tourism sector.

She said that the move would further enhance business and commerce ties between the two countries. She was delighted that the topography of Mangalore is comparable and similar to that of Delta, Canada.

Like Mangalore, even Delta is a panorama of palm-fringed beaches, lush green fields and also sheltered by the mighty sea roaring along its shores, she said, and added that with an important port, this coastal town is a major commercial centre.

George V Harvie, chief administrative officer, corporation of Delta, Manjith Kaila, Prathap Rajoo and Chitra Robinson among others were present.
