Mandya, Oct 2: Minister R Ashok said that agents who offer various lures to the people to get them converted into other religions exist everywhere in the country and this state. He asserted that the government will take stringent measures against such anti-social people.
Speaking to media persons here on Friday October 1, he termed religious conversion as an ignoble activity. "People have the right to stick to the worship and other procedures as per the faith in which they are born. But money is brought from abroad and distributed through the agents in an effort to get the people to change their religions. Many have been offering cows, buffaloes etc for them or promise to meet their hospitalization expenses subject to the condition that they change their faiths," he narrated.
Ashok said that those who are engaged in such conversions are like agents who get a fixed amount of money for every successful conversion they achieve. "We have come to know of instances where people are converted by offering money. This is going on in the state and even in this city. We will take steps at such anti-social traitors who are anti-righteous too," he said.
Ashok said that BJP government alone can stop religious conversions as the Congress government does not indulge in such things. He assured that his government will achieve this objective.
