BJP Targets More MLAs - Guttedar will be Next to Go

Bangalore, Oct 25 (DHNS):
After a brief lull, Operation Lotus is all set to resume again this week. Five-time MLA Malikayya Guttedar, who represents Afzalpur constituency in Gulbarga district, said on Sunday that he will resign his seat in a day or two.

Guttedar, who will be the third Congress MLA to quit the Assembly to facilitate the ruling BJP.

Rumours were also rife that three more Congress legislators would also quit their seats in days to come in response to the BJP ‘invitation’ to quit the Assembly in order to reduce the numbers in the House, making it easier for the BJP to stay in majority.

Guttedar blamed senior leaders Mallikarjuna Kharge and Dharam Singh, who are also from his home district Gulbarga, for creating a “suffocating atmosphere” for him in the party. “I can no longer continue in the party. They have been creating hurdles for me for the last two and a half years. I have decided to quit”, Guttedar told Deccan Herald.

Guttedar said he had not been consulted during the process of making nominations to party posts and issuing party tickets during elections.

He said he will meet Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah and also voters of his constituency before handing over his resignation letter to Speaker K G Bopaiah. While Guttedar said he would not join any party after resigning from his seat, the timing of his decision to quit from the Assembly comes at a time when BJP’s “Operation Lotus” is in full swing.

Denies lobbying

Speculation was also rife in political circles that he was bargaining to become Excise Minister. However, Guttedar, however denied he was lobbying for a ministership.

In what could be a further set back for the Congress in Gulbarga, considered its stronghold, another party legislator, Baburao Chinchansur (Gurmitkal) is said to have been approached by the BJP to quit the Assembly.

May also jump

BJP sources said Rajashekar Basavaraj Patil, MLA from Humnabad in Bidar district, may also jump into the saffron net soon.

His father Basavaraj Patil, who is an MLC and father in-law Gurupadappa Nagamarapalli who is Bidar DCC Bank president are already in the BJP. Another name doing the rounds as a ‘Lotus’ catch is that of Congress legislator and former minister Prakash Hukkeri (Chikkodi) would also quit his Assembly membership.

Congress deserves this punishment. Because they had all the chances of throwing out this most corrupt govt. When BJP was misusing their speaker, Congress should have used all their sources to throw this govt when their number was actually less. Now they got the time to buy MLAs and cong. got good lesson. Now all parties will know how important to make money and buy MLAs if required. So, whichever govt next, corruption and misuse of govt funds will be at its peak. No escape for general public from this corruption.

If British in 250 years of their rule looted about 1 lac crores from India our Netas in 60 years looted the nation of an estimated 70 lac crores. With this kind of Donkey-Trading (Horse-Trading is too dignified a name)market remaining open the loot would reach 1crore crores within no time and our great Karnataka will top the list of the corrupt in the world!

The attitude of people who are supporting 'Horse Trading' here in this forum is apalling. We must understand that these MLA's who are victims of 'Operation Lotus' will not bother to serve people instead we'll see them only fill their pockets in the years to come.

All the MLAs are saleable, only the price differs. Some want to make a quick buck and settle down for life. Some are happy with a steady inflow. All these years this was happening in the background. Now it is happening in the open without any hesitation. There is the CM ready to buy at any cost and there are ample of MLAs ready to be bought. Mockery of democrary at its peak and helplessness of the common man at its worst.

This is good. Atleast get a good majority and run the government. Infact BJP should extend invitation to the entire congress to join them. Yeddy can only then provide good leadership to this state.

In my humble openion, most people join politics in order to make money. Hence, they are ready to make any amount of hops when they smell money. Should I say that this claim applies 100% for politicians from North Karnataka?
Karnataka politics has hit the headlines of most Indian News papers today such as NDTV, CNN-Live, Times of India, The Hindu.... so much so, one feels ashamed to identify oneself with Karnataka. Except for promises for development, no real development is taking place in the state. The interior Karnataka is totally neglected. In the present situation, one wonders as to whether Karnataka needs a government. Probably, the people of Karnataka have to pray for God's intervence to set the situation right in the state.

Do the people of Karnataka need a Government. I think No, Karnataka is governed and managed by IAS civil servants. In the absence of Government State may save lot of tax payers money. Ask for No government and start non coporation movement with the elected state officials.
