Mangaluru, Oct 23: A new state-of-the-art operation theatre complex and an advanced medical intensive care unit (MICU) was inaugurated at SCS Hospital, Upper Bendore Saturday October 23.
The operation theatre complex with the most advanced surgical equipment was inaugurated by Dr Shantharam Shetty, pro chancellor, Nitte University. The state-of-the-art operation theatre complex has equipment of the latest technology including thunderbeat and first true 4K laparoscopic operating system from Olympus Japan with ultra large 55-inch operating monitor which is the first 4k operating system in Karnataka and which delivers four times the resolution, better light and twice the colour as regular HD, enabling surgeons to see images with greater clarity.
The benefits of this system towards the patients is the precision of the surgery, minimal blood loss, shorter stay at the hospital and early recovery at an affordable cost.
The 9-bedded advanced medical intensive care unit (MICU) was inaugurated by Dr Rajendra K V, deputy commissioner, Dakshina Kannada. The ICU has an advanced integrated patient monitoring system from Nihon Kohden, Japan involving the latest technology. All the beds are equipped with central monitor facility and high end ventilators with unique technology.
The ICU is carefully designed with by top architects and planners complying with the international standard requirements and keeping in mind the conditions of patients being admitted. The ICU has been designed in such a way as to allow ample natural light, soothing interiors and music keeping in view the overall wellbeing of the patient.
After the inauguration, Dr Rajendra K V addressed the gathering and expressed his appreciation towards the commitment and sincere efforts Dr Jeevaraj Sorake, chairman and managing director, SCS Hospital and the hospital team in creation of the hi-tech OT complex and advanced MICU. He wished that the facilities provided be utilized and is beneficial to all the people of Dakshina Kannada and the neighbouring districts.
Dr Shantharam Shetty on addressing the gathering congratulated the hospital team on the initiation of the advanced OT and MICU facilities. He remembered the founding chairman the late Sorake Chandrashekar and his contributions towards the people of Mangaluru. He conveyed his best wishes and deep appreciation for the good work being carried out by Dr Jeevaraj Sorake and the hospital.
This dignitaries then visited the GI lab (Institute for Liver and Gatro intestinal disorders) which is the first-of-its-kind in Dakshina Kannada with advanced GI motility lab and was initiated in the year 2018. The workflow of the department, the various equipment in use and the benefits of GI lab was explained to the guests by Dr Chandrashekar Sorake, clinical director and consultant gastroenterologist and hepatologist.
