Udupi, Nov 12: Former minister for sports and youth empowerment and Congress leader Pramod Madhwaraj, was liberal in heaping praise on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said Modi deserves to be appreciated for identifying the achievements of grass root level personalities and choosing them for different awards.

His appreciation came at a programme organized here on Thursday November 11 to welcome Sri Vishwaprasanna Theertha Swamiji, who returned from New Delhi after collecting the Padma Vibhushan award bestowed posthumously on his mentor and Guru, Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji, who was the head of Pejawar Math here.

Pramod Madhwaraj, who participated in the said programme, said that after the government headed by Narendra Modi came into being, awards like Padma Bhushan and Padma Shree are going to people who rightfully deserve them. He said that the identification of grassroot level achievers with exemplary feats to their credit and giving them awards is a good development. He said that being in the opposition, he finds that Modi deserves to be appreciated for his qualities like this one. He also said he feels he deems himself to be lucky to have participated in this function being a resident of Malpe, where Lord Sri Krishna's idol was found.
