Dubai, Nov 13: Daiji Rang Mandir, a wing of Daiji Dubai Konkani Writers (DDKW) in the Emirates and a forum of Konkani stage artistes around UAE organized an event to honour the visiting versatile actor of Yakshaghana, drama, movies and TV actor ‘Tulunadu Manikya’ Aravind Bolar on November 10 at Winny's restaurant at Karama here.

It is a tradition of Daiji Rang Mandir to identify talent, achievement and honour Konkani and Tulu artistes who visit the Emirates from any part of the world. Nearly two-and-half hours was spent with the Tulu ace artiste, worldwide acclaimed Private Challenge fame, Aravind Bolar, which turned into a memorable occasion indeed. In the course of the function, he shared his rich experience with the audience, which comprised mostly the artistes and well-wishers of Aravind Bolar.

The programme started with a small silence prayer for envoking God’s blessings by compere Dony Correa. He called on stage president of the programme, patron of most of the programes in this part of the world Joseph Mathias, Daiji Dubai and Daiji Rang Mandir founder Dayan D’Souza Mukamar, Daijiworld founder and chairman Walter Nandalike, Daiji Dubai convenor Nanu Marol followed by Aravind Bolar. Daiji Rang Mandir convenor Darrel D’Souza Vamanjoor welcomed the guests and gathering.

Daiji Dubai and Daiji Rang Mandir founder Dayan D’Souza Mukamar, in his speech spoke on the simplicity of Aravind Bolar. He gave a couple of examples narrating Aravind Bolar’s impact on society. He also advised specially the artistes to adopt the simplicity of Aravind Bolar by not running behind fame. “You do your work sincerely. Fame will automatically follow you,” he said, mentioning the impact of Private Challenge on the society and thanked the actor duo of Aravind Bolar and Walter Nandalike. During the pandemic time, people were in dark but Daijiworld successfully brought some smile on the public's faces through their variety of programmes with Private Challenge standing on top.

Walter Nandalike introduced the work of Aravind Bolar. He further informed that it is not possible to describe Aravind Bolar’s 35 years of dedication on stage in a day or two. “He has slogged day and night from the past 35 years to get this name and respect from the public. Although he attained all the heights, even today, he is not missing any opportunity tirelessly working for almost 20 hours a day. It is a great experience to any actor to act with him. With his presence on TV, especially through Private Challenge episodes, he has changed the taste of TV viewing, especially of the coastal viewers. Most of the Private Challenge episodes are overwhelmingly appreciated by Tulunadu people across the globe. In Private Challenge, with different characters, he has conveyed many messages to the different sections of the society. He is comfortably acting in different languages and speaks those languages very fluently. Hence, he becomes a great ambassador for all religions,” he said.

President of the event, Joseph Mathias thanked Aravind Bolar for bringing smiles on public’s faces in the last two years during the time of the pandemic. “Due to this pandemic, we lost many things, our jobs and our near and dear ones. But this pandemic has taught us how to live our life. Leaving behind all this today, after almost two years Daiji Dubai and Daiji Rang Mandir arranged this programme to honour Aravind Bolar which is appreciable,” he said. He also congratulated Aravind Bolar for his selfless service to the society by acting in different languages.

Aravind Bolar was felicitated with shawl, peta, floral bouquet, fruits basket and a beautifully designed personalised citation.

Receiving the felicitation, Aravind Bolar thanked his parents and said that because of them it was possible for him to attain this name today. “I will treasure this felicitation by Daiji Rang Mandir all my life. Daijiworld has given me new recognition. Although I did Yakshagana, drama and movies, but with ‘Private Challenge’, my identity rose in manifold. I was raised along with different communities hence I can speak Konkani, Tulu, Kannada, Byari and Malayalam. We have to follow our own religion in our homes, but in public life, we should not follow religion. We have to love each other because love has no religion,” he said. He thanked Daiji Rang Mandir for arranging the wonderful function and felicitating him.

Daiji Dubai convenor Nanu Marol Thottam rendered the vote of thanks.

Multi-talented Dony Correa, a well-known Konkani and Tulu stage actor, singer and ace compere, compered the programme in Tulu in his inimitable style.
