Kolar, Nov 14: Miscreants threw stones at a mini bus that was moving to Datta Peeta in Chikkamagaluru district on M B Road in the town on the night of Saturday November 13. The rear window of the bus was shattered due to the stone pelting incident. Two persons seated in the front were injured in the incident,

Condemning the development, Hindu organizations, held protest during the late night hours. Hundreds of youngsters wearing Datta Mala around their necks protested in front of the town police station. They stuck to their demand for arresting those who threw stones at the bus.

Deputy superintendent of police, Giri, who visited the spot, discussed the matter with the leaders of Hindu organizations. He announced that a special police team has been formed to locate the culprits. Satisfied by the police measures, the protestors ended their agitation. The police thereafter arranged for another mini bus for their travel to Datta Peeta.

A total of 24 Datta devotees wearing Mala around their necks went by bus to pay obeisance at the Datta Peeta near Chikkamagaluru.

Reacting to the incident at Chikkamagaluru, national president of Sri Ram Sene, Pramod Muthalik, said that 'Muslim miscreants' were behind the attack. He accused the mischief mongers of launching a murderous attack when the devotees were singing Bhajans. He demanded for the immediate arrest of the concerned, duly stressing that rowdyism and 'Talibanism' will not be allowed. He also warned that if the attacks do not stop, those involved will face retaliation.

Muthalik said that he had talked to the deputy commissioner and wanted to know why no protection was extended in the sensitive areas. He also asked the state home minister to arret the miscreants immediately failing which he said he would go to Kolar personally .

A protest against the incident was also held at Chikkamgaluru opposite Sharada Math there by Sri Ram Sene activists. A memorandum was handed over to the district superintendent of police, Akshay, demanding the arrest of the accused.
