Kolar, Nov 15: In connection with an incident in which miscreants had stoned a mini bus carrying devotees wearing the customary Datta Mala and headed for Bababudangiri Dattapeeta in Chikkamagaluru from the city, the town police station personnel have arrested ten.

The mini bus was carrying 19 persons wearing the Datta Mala and three others. When the devotees proceeded on Bengaluru road duly raising the 'Jai Sri Ram' slogans, a crowd of about 100 people had thrown stones at the bus. The rear window glass of the bus was damaged. Sri Ram Sene activists had protested after which the situation turned tense. Town station police took the situation into control.

Four persons who were injured in the attack were treated at SNR Hospital.

The Datta devotees and Sri Ram Sene activists had held protest in front of the town station here, demanding the arrest of the miscreants. The police registered first information report under sections that are non-bailable. After the police officers assured them of action, the activists withdrew protest and proceeded to Chikkamagaluru by another bus.

Ten main accused, Roshan Zameer (29), Akbar Khan (32), Mukarram Pasha (28), Abbas Ali (26), Mohammad Nausheer (29) and Shoaib Sidique (30), have been arrested and search is continuing. At night two groups clashed in the town in which Wasim Baig was stabbed with a knife while three others were injured.

Earlier, after the devotees paid their respects to the Paduke at the Datta Peeta, the Datta Mala campaign ended with oblations. Sri Ram Sene national president, Pramod Mutalik, warned that his organization will go to Kolar and start their agitation if the culprits involved with stone throwing are not arrested.
