Bantwal: Three arrested for abusing, attempting to assault qazi

Bantwal, Nov 16: Three persons were arrested by Konaje police on Monday November 15 for abusing and attempting to assault a qazi.

The arrested have been identified as Sharan (24), Vignesh (23) and Harshith (22) all from Karnad, Bantwal.

It is said that on midnight on Sunday November 14, the accused arrived on a two-wheeler and abused Muslim community near the house of the complainant. When the complainant came out of his house, the accused fled from the spot.

After few minutes, they entered the mosque and abused and tried to assault the qazi. As he screamed for help, locals gathered and the accused fled from the spot once again.

The complainant had spotted the accused loitering near the mosque three days ago. They were intending to damage the mosque and disturb peace in the society by attacking qazi, it is said.
