Bengaluru, Nov 18: “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the biggest Ahinda leader. There is no other bigger Ahinda leader than in him in the entire country,’’ Health and Family Welfare as well as Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar said on Thursday.

Speaking at the Jan Swaraj Yatra of ruling BJP in Karnataka at Davangere, Dr Sudhakar said the Congress leaders must first understand the greatness of the Prime Minister.

Incidentally, Dr Sudhakar, was himself a Congressman and had joined the BJP along with other Congress-JD(S) leaders to pull down the H D Kumaraswamy-led Congress-JD(S) coalition government in the State, and because of these defections of 17 MLAs B S Yediyurappa and now Basavaraj Bommai have become Chief Ministers in the State.

Without personally naming the Congress leaders Siddaramaiah or D K Shivakumar, Dr Sudhakar said two opposition leaders had claimed that BJP can be defeated if Dalits and Minorities join hands.

“It is Congress party’s policy to divide the country, sow the seeds of casteism and create animosity among religions. Some Congress leaders are describing themselves as Ahinda leaders,’’ he said pointing out that such talk was ‘against the Constitutional and democratic fundamental values’.

“These leaders must realise that there is no other bigger Ahinda leader than Prime Minister Narendra Modi,’’ he said to the loud cheers from party workers.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been in power for over 20 years but has never played caste politics. He gained the trust and confidence of all sections by his slogan Sabka Saath, Sabka Vishwas,’’ Dr Sudhakar said accusing Congress party of dividing backward classes, Dalits, Veerashaivas and Lingyats.

The Health Minister said BJP government has provided vaccines against the Covid pandemic for the entire country. Former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa responded to the health concerns of the people and the present Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai is ruling the State as a ‘common man’.

Continuing his tirade against the Congress party, Dr Sudhakar accused the Congress party of paying lip-sympathy to farmers and seeking to ensure that the farmers serve as their bonded labourers. Those who speak about minorities, have not done anything for their welfare while the Prime Minister Modi has helped the backward classes and minorities through the Mudra scheme, he said.

He said it was very difficult to get elected in grama panchayat polls as the rural people watch every action. The present legislative council elections to fill up 21 seats in the upper house are being conducted with the members of the local bodies voting. The ruling BJP has majority and said people must elect their candidates after weighing all factors and the present elections will help in ensuring that the party has comfortable majority in both houses to bring laws or any amendments.

The minister asked the local body representatives to elect suitable candidates and help the ruling BJP gain majority to bring pro-people legislations and administration.

“Electing BJP candidates will strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai,’’ he added.
