Udupi, Nov 19: MLA from here, K Raghupati Bhat, met chief minister (CM) Basavaraj Bommai, along with a delegation of the city municipal council here that included the municipal president, and urged him to sanction special grant for undertaking development works in the city in view of the upcoming Paryaya celebrations.

The world-famous Paryaya festival, which is held here once in two years, is set to be celebrated during January, 2022. Lacs of people will be congregating in the city to be a part of the celebrations. In the light of this, the city municipality needs special grants to undertake road development and other infrastructure facilities. The MLA and the municipal delegation led by its president, met the CM at Bengaluru on Thursday November 18 and handed over a memorandum.

The CM who received the memorandum, said that no grant can be sanctioned now because of the election code of conduct in place. He promised to sanction a special grant for the development of Udupi city and undertake infrastructure improvement works immediately after the code of conduct ceases to exist. He also promised that the government will fully back the Paryaya celebrations.

On this occasion, the MLA offered the holy Prasadam of Udupi Lord Sri Krishna and honoured the CM.

Udupi municipal president Sumitra Nayak, vice president Lakshmi Manjunath, standing committee chairperson Girish Anchan, and councillor Balakrishna Shetty K were present.

Why not get some grant for repair of Manipal- Alevoor road? Majority of bad and non motorable road is within Manipal city limit! High time get into civic facility improvement. Paryaya too needed, but preventing accidents by essential road repair is even more important! Why BJP party supporters are blind towards such burning issues??? Where does the tax money go??? No one has courage to question???
