Mumbai, Nov 22: ‘Gopala E Parbala’, the latest comedy Tulu play by playwright and director Devdas Kapikad, was staged by the artistes of ‘Cha Parka’ play troupe at Kajupada – Jerimeri, Sakinaka, Andheri (East), on Saturday November 20. It was staged under the aegis of metro-based Konkani Abhimani Sangh and Geleyara Balaga.
S N Udupa, chief priest, Umamaheshwari Temple, Jerimeri, conveyed best wishes for the play in a simple function here on Saturday evening.
He said that Tulu can sustain longer, if speakers of the language settled in the metro speak it at home. Udupa added that this would also sustain the cultural hierarchy for posterity.
Marol corporator and Congress (I) party youth leader Clive Dias was the chief guest.
Karnataka Rajyotsav Award recipient Devdas Kapikad was felicitated on the occasion.
Konkani Abhimani Sangh office-bearers Walter D’Souza Jerimeri and Leo Fernandes, Geleyara Balaga office-bearers Sanjeev Poojary and Ravi Mendon, and Cha Parka drama troupe Mumbai convener Karnoor Mohan Rai were present on the dais.
