Mumbai, Nov 22: The Fourth Pauline Book Exhibition Fair organized by the Daughters of St Paul was inaugurated on at Pauline Centre, Near Bishops' House, Vasai West on Saturday November 20.
Fr Nazareth Gabru, the vicar general and parish priest of St Gonsalo Garcia Church, inaugurated the exhibition. The theme of the exhibition is "Readers for Leaders". The exhibition will be on for ten days from 9.00 am to 9.00 pm at the Pauline Centre premises.
Fr Gabru also inaugurated the book "Advent Grace" a book on daily gospel reflections published by the Daughters of St Paul.
Speaking on the occasion he said that "The Books are the thoughts expressed by the great people." He also said that the Bible is the greatest book we have today.
The guest of honour of the occasion Sr Lynette, principal of St Antony's High School, Koliwada, Vasai said that all the leaders are good readers. But all the readers may not be leaders. She also said that "A person who loves books will not find another faithful and cheerful campanion because they find them in books. Books to me are precious. Books always fascinates me."
Another guest Cynthia D'Costa, principal of Pushpanjali B Ed College said that her father kindled in her love for reading books. Since then the books have given her in depth knowledge. The needs of today that our parents need to read out books to the children and develop interest in them. Instead of leaving them to television, the dumb media they need to expose their children to the books. The television blocks the imagination in our chlidren where as the books develops creativity in them.
Fr Louis was another guest.
The programme started with the prayer session organized under the leadership of Sr Virginia. Sr Hemanti said the opening prayer. Sr Gloria read out the praise. Sr Clauret welcomed the gathering and gave an introductory address.
Sr Stella honoured the guest with the gifts. Sr Jeevan gave the vote of thanks. Alista Lobo compered the programme.
