Siddu Says Government will Fall Even if Yeddy Stays
Bangalore, Nov. 23 (DC): Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, Siddaramaiah, is confident the BJP government will fall, whether Chief Minister Yeddyurappa resigns or not. Speaking to media here on Monday, Siddaramaiah said the sheer volume and weight of the allegations would make the government collapse, even if Yeddyurappa continues or not.
“It is a shame that despite such torrents of allegations against him, Mr Yeddyurappa is talking and behaving as if nothing has happened. If one tells him that he is corrupt to the core, he would say he was working hard, day and night, for the welfare of the poor. Such an attitude of going off at a tangent will not work for long. People, the court and the enquiring agencies are demanding a straight answer,” he said.
He said that Yeddyurappa confessing to his misdeeds would not be sufficient. According to the IPC, he can be punished, the Congress leader said, adding the volume of charges is so huge that only a CBI enquiry would do it justice.
“People in power do make mistakes. But saying that he has not erred because the earlier Chief Ministers did the same when they were in office, is no alibi,” he said Mr Yeddyurappa has distributed sarees to poor, that too when the elections are around the corner.
