Chitradurga: MLA Gulihatti Shekhar poses questions to people returning from church

Daijiworld Media Network - Chitradurga (SP)

Chitradurga, Dec 20: People who have undergone religious conversions were coming out of a church in Hosadurga town in the district on Sunday December 19, when MLA representing the constituency, Gulihatti Shekhar, stopped them and wanted to know their village, caste, name etc. A video in this regard shared on the social media site by the MLA has become viral.

The MLA was going to Janakal village at about 12 pm on Sunday when he noticed that people were coming out of a church in Shantinagar on Hiriyur road. He stopped the car and asked a woman about her place, how many years she has been visiting the church, whether her life has been better after starting to come here, etc. She said she is from Hosadurga, and has been visiting the church for the last some years. She said she was sick earlier, but her health has improved after she started to visit this church.

Gulihatti Shekhar

Another young couple said they are from Shantinagar and they belong to Bovi community. They said they have been visiting this church for the last eight years and that they have converted to Christianity. Some who have undergone conversion, observed that the MLA was questioning people, and went away without stopping to respond to his questions.

When he was questioned on the viral video, Shekhar said he noticed that people were coming out of church and that one of the women had vermillion on her forehead. When questioned, she told him that she is from Mallappanahalli and this was her first day at the church. "She told me that a lady near her had told her that offering prayers in the church augurs well for her wellbeing and that this lady had escorted her to the church. He analysed that even though hue and cry is raised all over the state against religious conversions, the Christian missionaries have not stopped the work of influencing the minds of the people. He sensed that this could spell danger for the Hindus in the future.

Gulihatti Shekhar wanted to know why people suffering from sickness going to temple is considered as a superstition while going to churches is accepted as a religious belief. He wanted to know what purpose is served by the hospitals if visiting churches cures people. He said that Hosadurga taluk is witnessing increasing number of religious conversions even though people are rising against religious conversions. He warned that unless these activities are restrained, in future, the same will prove to be harmful for the Hindus.

Please note religion is not politics. if you want first you bring the law to bar the politicians to change the party. bar them from changing the party after winning. (specially independent candidates). Religion cast is personnel not public, no one has the right to question which religion a person is following. You believe or not God (God-Means any religion) will not spare any dirty minds, for sure. Mind it.

He has no right to stop anyone coming out of a church or any place of worship. Who the hell he thinks he is?. Government official who investigated the allegations reported that there were no conversions and the poor guy got transferred next day without posting. If Bomma and BJP continue like this they will loose next election now voters can see the dirty game they are playing. Right from Roman times many rulers tried to suppress Christianity but they all failed.

Vinay, he may be a strong believer in Christ. He indirectly support Christianity but try to show BJP that he is strong hindu. During Jesus time many turned to him just because Jesus always thought to forgive your enemies and love your neighbors more than yourself. Gullatiwala just making .drama. his mother was a Christian soon he will be one too. More news about this fellow better publicity about Christian's. Everyone know Christians run schools and hospitals .most of the Hindus only goes to our schools and hospitals. They know the truth about Christian's. It's not required to justify

No issues good he did this exercise of asking the people and the people told him they go to church because they were healed knowingly or unknowingly he is preaching Jesus and Christianity to all. Don't be surprised if karnataka people find him praying in church. Jesus can change of heart of anyone.

He has a right to tour his contituency and find out what's going on. After all, in this task of meeting peop;e coming out of the church, he wanted to know why people with bottu flock to chuches so that he can give feed back to, rather feeed, the bomma as he introduces the anti-conversion bill this week in the Legislature. He didn;t take a posse like Tippu did 240 years ago, to rounjd u[ the people coming out of churches.

He has no right nor none of govt official’s business to do what he is doing. People are within thier rights here to do. Instead let him give feed back about people’s concern over price hikes, jobs and protect people’s rights. People are not paying taxes to the govt to do this anti constitutional work.

Veer Nagpur, why you say he has no right in his constitute to ask o roam about?.Let himand know it personally. He is a free person.when one say no conversion ,other says many. With a tilak on head doesnt mean anything about converted or not.Sme 50 years ago I saw some women used to visit church in Bangalore.when someone wants know how it is in churches or in Temple ,is their right.God lives in everyones heart not in walls of temples or church ,Mashjid.Faith and live a life acording to Gods wish.Mohammed Ali was a cathoilc ,but converted as Muslim.Noone went behind him and asked him why he is muslim now.A adult can live as he wants. One shouldnt convert only for the sake of social or other helps.

Christians who seek to follow Jesus Christ’s footsteps should make the Kingdom of God as high a priority in their lives as it was in Christ’s life. Jesus came to set us an example of how to live. He then died for our sins and was resurrected so we can have an opportunity to be in the Kingdom of God ...

For everyone in India, freedom to choose religion is there, no doubt. But, a religious leader should atleast have a brief knowledge of other religions and he should respect all religions. If a person approaches a religious leader and demands for religious conversion, the leader should advise him/her that all the religions are same and have equal values. To help needy people, one should not bother about religions.

It is true all religions preach almost same principles. But when one seeks another religion as he is more comfortable and happy with some practices and beliefs as his own choice, let him choose what he wants.

It is a shame of this elected representative to question the church goers. If this fellow is in western nations by now PM or president will suspend him from the party for life. This is obviously a harrassment on minorities and need to be stopped. this need to be reported to UN for further investigation on persecution of Christian's by elected government representative for no reasons. Enough is enough. Hs is going beyond his limits and taking away citizens rights.

Why police department silent to take action against this public representatives ? What is religious freedom? Can he trace when he became hindu? Is he allowed to worship in the temple? Or his forefathers allowed to worship in the temple and when from and whom they were worshipping? He is accountable and he isto be published for wrong doings? He is not an authority or authorised such activities

What a insecure and nervous soul. All those people whom he did his illegal survey were economically well off and have converted on thier own will without force. Going forward no missionaries are required for conversion. People are coming forward themselves in big numbers to get converted and forcing missionaries and churches to convert them. BJP has understood this phenomenon and putting its middleman to control and decline people’s wish to convert willfully. If BJP governs with clear heart and does it’s duty as per the constitution then there is no need for it to fear losing elections since people need better life and better future but not private issues like food, religion and marriage.
