Chris Cairns Visits City, Shares Thoughts on Indian, Kiwi Teams

Mangalore, Dec 6: It was an unforgettable evening for all those gathered at the 20th annual day celebrations of St Joseph's Joyland School, Koyla here on Monday December 6, as former New Zealand cricket captain Chris Cairns became the cynosure of all eyes.
Cairns, who is on a visit to the city, shared his thoughts with the huge crowd that had gathered to get a glimpse of their cricketing hero. He said that he was happy to visit the city and especially to participate in an educational programme.
He said that the present Indian team with its young blood has great potential to excel consistenly, and the experience of veterans like Sachin Tendulkar has added a fine balance to the team.
Commenting on the Indian team's dominating performance against his hometeam in the ongoing series, he said that the Kiwi side is low on morale and needs to build on its confidence level.
Expressing concern over the inconsistent performances of the Kiwi team lately, he said that the team is working on ways to improve itself. He, however, paid rich tributes to the Indian side calling it the better the team at the moment.
Manager of Chris Cairns Foundation Joseph Rego, chairman of Joyland school computer academy Arjun Pinto and others were present.
This, however, was not the first visit by Cairns to the city. In 2005 he had come to Mangalore to launch the Chris Cairns Charitable Foundation that caters to children's education.
On Sunday December 5, Cairns was in Bangalore to launch the Chris Cairns Foundation that will help children in need of cochlear implants.
