Jan 10: Dakshina Kannada reports 176 corona cases; Udupi records 219 infections

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jan 10: Dakshina Kannada on Monday, January 10, reported 176 new coronavirus cases while Udupi registered 219 cases.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,17,817 out of which 1,383 are currently active.

As many as 60 patients were discharged from hospitals on Monday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,705.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,12,47,630 as fine in 92,975 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

A total of 219 new cases were reported on Monday. Udupi reported 183, Kundapura 14 and 20 cases from Karkala.

A total of 40 patients were discharged from hospitals on Monday. Coronavirus has claimed 479 lives in the district so far.

So far 10,09,436 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 8,53,272 have received the second dose.

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
