Mangaluru, Jan 24: Pradhan Manthri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar award was presented to Remona Evette Pereira for her exceptional achievements in the field of art and culture.
A virtual interaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi was held at zilla panchayat on Monday January 24.
Remona is being trained in semi-classical dance for the past eight years by Manoj Karipalla and Sandhya K. She is also being trained in western, contemporary by Pramod Kodikal Preethesh Kumar and Nicky Pinto.
Her quest to learn other dance forms namely Kuchipudi, Kathak, Semi Classical Folk, Yakshagana, Western and Contemporary dance, proffered Remona more opportunities to establish and explore as an ambassador of dance.
Remona has bagged hundreds of prizes participating in innumerable competitions. She has also presented countless number of stage shows. She entered Bharatanatyam Rangapravesha during the year 2019.
Remona hails from Falnir and is pursuing her first year pre-university at Nanthoor Padua PU College. She is the daughter of Gladis Celine and late Everest Pereira and younger sister of Ronaldo Rockson.
Remona said, “Due to Covid, we could not go to Delhi and interact with Prime Minister Narendar Modi. During the interaction with the PM, he asked about what inspired me to take up this art form and about the challenges as well.”
The award included Rs 1 lac cash and a certificate.
