Bantwal, Jan 25: "The tender assigned for the development of national highway 75 from Addahole and B C Road is progressing fast. The work will be completed by the year 2023. Special attention has also been given for the development of other highways in the district," said Dakshina Kannada MP and state BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel.
He was speaking after scrutinizing the highway development works under way between B C Road and Kalladka on Monday January 24. He said that bridges will be constructed at Panemangalore and Uppinangady as part of the development works and a flyover will come up at Kalladka. He revealed that the progress of the works will be reviewed by holding meetings every 15 days. He stated that he is thankful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, union minister for highways, Nitin Gadkari, and Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai, for their cooperation.
"The road work between Bikkarnakatte and Sanoor has already undergone tender process. The work between B C Road and Punjalkatte is moving ahead briskly. Work between Punjalkatte and Charmadi will begin soon. I have also urged Gadkari to sanction a special grant for the development of Sakleshpur section of the highway," he explained. On the issue of the proposed closure of Shiradi Ghat road to facilitate road development works, he said that a final decision on this issue will be taken after the officials examine the alternative plans.
Minister S Angara, MLA Rajesh Naik Ulioppady, KEONICS chairman Harikrishna Bantwal, former legislators Padmanabha Kottary and Rukmaya Poojary, Bantwal Urban Development Authority chairman Devadas Shetty, Block BJP president Devappa Poojary, Deepak Kumar who represented KNR company and special land acquisition officer Manjunath, along with several others were present.
