Mumbai: Three Christians Beaten Up in Worli


Mumbai, Dec 19 (TOI): Three Christians, who were singing Christmas carols, were beaten up by a group of anti-social elements in Worli on Saturday December 18. The Worli police had not registered a complaint till the time of going to the press.

The incident took place around 10.15 pm in Worli Koliwada, where members of the Christian community had gathered to usher in Christmas. The accused reached the spot and, without any provocation, kicked and punched the three men.

Dr Abraham Mathai, general secretary of The All India Christian Council, said, "The accused then forced the victims into their car and took them to the police station. The accused told the cops that another group had beaten up the victims. However, the victims identified these men as the ones who had bashed them up."

DCP Suhas Warke, said, "I have not been informed of the incident."
