Bengaluru, Jan 31: The Corona third wave is slowly showing signs of gradual decline. It is said that the infection is at its peak in 19 districts currently.

Between January 19 and 29, the third wave hit its peak in 19 districts. During this phase, a high number of infected people were found in these districts. There is hope that the infection will slowly decline in these districts. During the last few days, there has been gradual downslide in the TPR rates as per the statistics of the Covid war rooms. However, it is said that in 11 other districts, the infection continues to rise.

Ramanagara is among the districts which have shown the highest decline in the past 10 days. The TPR here is 15.63. The TPR here came down from 27.01 to 11.38. In Mandya, the TPR has come down from 40.54 to 15.53. In Kolar, the TPR is down from 29.51 to 17. Bengaluru recorded a decline of 10.2 under TPR from 25.44 to 15.24.

Bagalkot, Chamarajanagar, Haveri, Kodagu, Yadgiri and Belagavi are the districts which have recorded an increase in the rate of infection.

Dr Pradeep Banandur, head of the department of infectious diseases at NIMHANS says that districts which show a consistent slow down in a row for a minimum of two weeks are considered to have crossed their peak while the others are yet to reach the peak.

He said that in the case of the 11 districts, it is expected that the decline will start in two weeks and mostly by the end of February and we might be done with the third wave. By Friday or Saturday next, initially the infection may rise because of the removal of weekend and night curfew, he stated.
