Udupi: BJP leader, Beary writer Raheem Uchil opposes Hijab in class

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (JD)

Udupi, Jan 31: "Apart from the six students, other Muslim students have complained that due to the issue created by the former, they are facing problems", said Raheem Uchil, President Beary Sahitya Academy and BJP leader.

Speaking to media persons after taking part in the meeting with the protesting students presided over by MLA Raghupathi Bhat, Raheem Uchil said, "Today we visited the college to verify the facts surrounding the issue. Among 100 Muslim students we met only four students demanding Hijab and then 12 more.  Apart from the six students demanding Hijab, other Muslim students have claimed that there were no issues with them and that they are treated well. They told me that  due to these four students even other Muslim students are facing trouble now.

"We checked the group photographs of the college taken in the previous years and also the photographs captured during various other functions. No students were wearing Hijab in these pictures. MLA Raghupathi Bhat has clarified that students will be allowed inside the class if they come without wearing Hijab. All the officials and representatives concerned are helping the students in solving the issue," he added.

He further said that it was not right to drag the issue further. "I am not against the Hijab.  Hijab is a tradition in Islam. I agree with their demand for wearing Hijab. At the same time Islam also calls for identifying the issues created by wearing the Hijab in certain places. We need to understand what effect it will have on other students and the college atmosphere per se. Democracy is different from Shariyat based nations," he said.

At the same time, Raheem Uchil congratulated the students for seeking permission to wear Hijab. He said, "In democracy everyone has the right to ask. As a Muslim, I commend their decision to wear Hijab but the college has denied the permission after studying all the related issues. Being a citizen of India, it is everyone's right to follow and adhere to the Constitution and government orders. If you are an Indian you have to follow it. You performed your duties being a Muslim, now do the same as an Indian. During today's discussion, three students agreed with my opinion. They have assured me to take a final decision by tomorrow. Only one student has disagreed but I have tried to convince her that due to one person's decision other students and the community will be in trouble. I'm not against Islam nor to Hijab. I respect that" he reiterated.

Now the matter is hijab. If muslim girl stop wearing hijab then all prob us solved as everyone opinion for uniformity. In this case all institution student should wear proper uniform, 1) If it is girls college or school none of male lecturers should be appointed. 2) No student should enter the class without improper uniform. Nothing should be added kind of religious sentiment, when they are in class like wearing bindis, sikh pagdi, bangles (mens n ladies) any kind thread tied on they hands, chains with god symbol or any, nuns should be allowed to wear they own dress , It should be just a proper uniform without adding anything. 3) Stop performing Pooja's, or other prayers in colleges and celebrating any kind of festival. lets take school for education purpose only 4) No pictures of god should be hung on walls or statues of any gods in schools and college premises. It should be only about freedom fighters. If this all above is agreed by everyone then comment any thing against hijab or else don't comment about uniformity. You live in peace n let others live in peace. Allow girls to wear hijabs in class which is not making any offend to you. If you ask your inner heart you will know it's just because of muslim's tradition your stopping it. You don't have any other reason. What will you gain or lose if you stop others wearing their pride to cover themselves?

Hijab was not at an issue at all. Hijab is practiced all over the world whether it's educational institutions or workplaces. Unfortunately very minority population muslims practice Islamic dress unlike Sikhs. Those who are propagating about uniform dress code why don't ask Sikhs to shun their attire. Eye skarfs are not allowed in classes and offices even in west or Muslim countries. Those muslims are in BJP don't have right to talk about Islam.

Readers, Beary writer Raheem Uchil, is a voice of sanity, echoing in the wilderness of a medieval civilization... He can be compared to HRH Prince Mohammed Salman, of Saudi Arabia, who wishes to cleanse and modernize his society, rescuing it from the perils of a barbaric stone age civilization....

He don't have any rights to comment what to wear and what not. Let him advise to his family member. We never considered him as a Muslim leader so no need to give any priority to him nor to his words. Let Govt and Muslim community come together to build a women's college in each and ever city where all the above said problems will solved.

To be in BJP and to grow there, he has to promote THEIR culture and suppress HIS own culture. There's no scope for retaining their own culture and respect others culture.

First thing is dress code to school. Is it defined anywhere. If not why this discussion. Divide and rule of British which is followed by some elements of bjp to get publicity is doing all these. Raghuram Bhat is one such. Declaration must come from Government. This must followed by ever community's. To please your boss (we call this as soaping) is only for self improvement and not for any community requirements or peace or living with harmony.

I believe focus on girls education is paramount than hijab. This is very common by such groups in west fighting for hijab and other attires in schools and public places. People please focus on poverty education which makes life better for society than focusing too much on religion. God never told human to wear how to wear cloth.

Then nobody should wear any other dress or article on the body other than a common uniform dress code, one for girls and other for boys. No head covering and turbans, no face covering, nothing on hands legs, waist , necks except pair of ear buds for girls. Then it’s fair.

Mr. Raheem, do not talk like a parrot. If in that particular school, past history says, girls wearing hizab were acceptable, then, continuing this practice of hizab shouldn't be issue. But the worst part is why PFI members were involved in this controversial issue. They are the one putting more oil to the fire. Did these PFI members have completed the University education by attending classes. They are the one who will be spoiling these girls education, All students should remember, Religion is opium to society.
