Bantwal, Jan 31: A police team led by Bantwal town station sub inspector Avinash has arrested a couple from Shivamogga on charges of misusing the picture of a young girl as a rape victim in a Youtube channel. The accused couple had published on january 27 that the girl in picture was raped the whole night by a fraudster Godman Harshad Baba in the name of treatment.   

The operation was conducted based on a complaint that the pictures of a girl belonging to a prestigious family was used in a segment called 'Curious Updates' in a Youtube channel called 'Kannada Light.' The girl's father in his complaint had stated that pictures of his daughter were shown as assisting the fake Swamiji in his pujas were also published in the video.

The accused couple Harish and Anusha employed as software engineers in Bengaluru were nabbed from Shivamogga.

Reportedly, the techie couple was staying in Shivamogga despite a job in Bengaluru with additional income plans. They had created a Youtube channel named Kannada Light and used to upload videos of various sensational incidents occurring in the society.

They had misused and uploaded the photo of a girl as click bait to report about an astrologer cum seer in another state with an intention to obtain a large number of views and earn more money out of it. A police complaint was lodged as there is no connection of the girl with the reported incident. The police tracked the accused couple to Shivamogga and nabbed them.

A case under police station registration No. 9/2022 section 509 IPC is registered in the police station.

However, Harish and Anusha are now out on bail.
