Mangaluru: Driver loses control over car, rams into scooter, two injured

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Feb 4: After the driver of a car lost control over it, the car moved menacingly before coming to a halt. In the bargain, it hit a car and a scooter. This incident happened in Chilimbi here on the evening of Thursday.

Two persons riding the scooter suffered injuries. The rider was treated and sent away while the woman was being treated. Owner of the car which caused the accident, Vivekananda Shenoy (65) who was driving the car, escaped without injuries.

Screengrab from CCTV footage

Vivekananda Shenoy's house is located at a height on Kotekani road adjacent to a steep road. At around 5 pm, he was waiting for his wife by the gate of his house when the car suddenly went down the slope and entered the main road. It hit a scooter moving on the main road before hitting a parked car and then came to a stop after hitting a protective wall. Two cars and a scooter were damaged.

The CCTV coverage gives the indication that the accident could have been very serious. However, there was lucky escape for the car driver as buses had moved away on the main road a fraction of a second before the car entered it. There could have been serious repercussions if Shenoy's wife was inside the car and if there were occupants in the parked car.

The police said that the failure on the part of the driver to apply brakes was apparently the reason for this accident.

How can you think and conclude it's a " her " . Mistakes and accidents happen with anybody. So before you comment please think. What makes you think men are better than women in driving?

It is an uncontested fact from stone age!!! I can guess the gender of a driver just by the way he/she is driving! If you see the video, the car just speeds up from the bottom of the hill where it should have slowed down. Clearly we can infer, the driver pressed the accelerator instead of breaks.....usually a common trait of females!

For people commenting that it’s minor or lady driving - It was senior citizen who was driving the car and lost control on the slope as a bottle rolled over from back seat and went under the brake pedal. This is from someone who was at the site after it just happened. So don’t just assume. Sometimes real accidents do happen. Hope the lady pillion rider from the scooter recovers quickly. She was badly injured in this

Simple case of hitting the accelerator instead of breaks. Cancel his( I think its a 'Her') driving license.
