Mangaluru, Feb 4: "HIjab row is an offshoot of the seeds of communal divide sown by former chief minister Siddaramaiah. We will not allow Karnataka to become anotherTaliban," said energy minister V Sunil Kumar on Friday, February 4.

Speaking to media persons in Bengaluru he said that there is a public opinion that students need to wear standard uniforms in schools and colleges.

Wearing anything other than uniform cannot be entertained. More than being a rule, wearing uniforms is a culture, he added.

"Wearing anything else because of religious considerations cannot be tolerated," he asserted.

"We will not allow Karnataka, Udupi and Mangaluru to become Taliban. Already, the education department has confirmed that a committee will be formed to frame uniform rules. Very soon a circular will be issued in this regard", said Sunil Kumar.

"If students are going to court, which organization is behind them? One section goes to the court claiming it is very difficult to pay the government college fees? Who is behind them? Communal matters are being glorified in a college campus," he expressed.

"Seeds of venom should not be sown among youth or in education. Siddaramaiah or Khader always think communally. Siddaramaiah provoked communal conflicts between various castes in the state," he alleged.

"Siddaramaiah sowed the seeds of poison among communities by introducing 'Pravasi Baghya' or Shadi Bhagya. HIjab row is a continued part of this. Earlier, it was thought that an Islamic organisation was behind this but now when we listen to the statements by Siddaramaiah and Khader, they seem like the perpetrators," he accused.

The minister reiterated that education must be given prominence on the campus. "The government will not tolerate this. There is a strategy behind this. People in Kashmir speak about the incident that took place here. There is a huge conspiracy behind this", he said.

"There is a plot to do something in Karnataka. Indirectly, Congress is supporting this. We will suppress this," the minister added.

Sunil Kumar disclosed that a circular within the purview of law will be issued very soon.
