M'lore: ‘Carmel Day 2010’ Held at Infant Jesus Church, Bikarnakatte

Mangalore, Dec 28: The Carmelite Friars at the Infant Jesus Shrine, Mangalore organized their, ‘23rd Carmel Day’ at the shrine premises here on Monday December 27.
Dolphy Prashanth D'Souza, an energetic and budding leader was the chief guest and Walter Nandalike, editor-in-chief, Daijiworld web portal was the guest of honour.
D'Souza recalled the contribution of the Carmelites Missionaries in the diocese of Mangalore. He also appealed to the gathering to encourage and support the youngsters to take up challenges in different fields.
Fr Archibald Gonsalves, provincial of the Karnataka – Goa Province was the president for the cultural evening.
Fr George Santhumayor, superior of St Joseph’s Monastery, welcomed the gathering. Fr provincial and Walter too spoke on the occasion.
Fr Stephen Pereira proposed the vote of thanks and Br Prakash D’Cunha compered the programme.
A Konkani drama “Major Barretto" was the highlight of the programme .The drama is written by Dolla, Nandigudda and directed by Clarence, Padil.
The friars also presented a variety of cultural programme consisting of dance, jokes, mime show, a group song and a song "Bachavo Uncle" composed by Fr Alwyn Sequeira to pay tribute to the victim of the plane crash at Mangalore.
People who had gathered in great number enjoyed the cultural fest.
