Udupi: Sec 144 clamped around all high schools from Feb 14 to 19

Udupi, Feb 13:
The deputy commissioner has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 around all the high schools in the district.

The move comes as a precautionary measure following the ongoing hijab - saffron controversy. The section will be in effect from 6 AM of February 14 to 6 PM on February 19.

The prohibitory order has been clamped following a request by the district Superintendent of Police to DC Kurma Rao for imposing section 144 around 200 mtrs surrounding all the high schools.

As per the section, assembly of five or more members around the school perimeter is not allowed. Any activity that disturbs an individual's personal faith or religion is prohibited.

All sorts of gatherings includings protests, rallies or protests are banned. Carrying sticks, clubs, knives or machetes and such articles that constitute lethal weapons is prohibited. Inciting slogans, songs, speeches are strictly barred.
