Mangaluru, Feb 15: Several persons were injured after a private bus that was moving to Bengaluru toppled at Thumbe.

The accident happened on national highway nearThumbe on Monday February 14 night. Several passengers were injured as a result.

It is gathered that the bus, which was on its way to Bengaluru from here, went out of the driver's control when it was negotiating a dangerous road bend some distance away from B A College and then toppled.

Most of the injured were admitted to a private hospital at Thumbe. Some have been shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru, sources stated.

Diesel began to leak from the bus tank.

Firemen arrived a short while later, sprayed water, and took steps to ensure that the accident does not cause further damage.

These buses should not be permitted to operate in the night. They run at an uncontrollable speed during nights since the roads are empty. Better let them move during day time when there is traffic on the roads so that drivers will be more alert and there will be check on the speed. It doesn’t matter if it takes an hour more to reach the destination.

These days there are nearly 3 trains operating daily from Mangalore including Junction.Sleeper coaches are very low in cost when compared to Buses towards Bangalore. And travel time taken is also reduced.

Role of appetizers in the loss of control of the vehicle may be investigated. Road bend near Thumbe is tricky, but not that tricky that the driver loses control at the start of his journey towards Bangalore.

You are right ,all the operators to be checked for alcohol percentage before boarding the bus like PCR test not the passengers.
