Feb 16: Dakshina Kannada reports 61 Covid cases, Udupi adds 69; four deaths in twin districts

Mangaluru/Udupi, Feb 16: Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday, February 16, reported 61 new coronavirus cases while Udupi registered 69 cases.

The total number of positive cases in Dakshina Kannada district has risen to 1,35,159 out of which 520 are currently active.

As many as 108 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,834 out of which two deaths were reported on Wednesday.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,15,37,880 as fine in 95,532 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

A total of 69 new cases were reported on Wednesday. The total active Covid cases have risen to 1839. A total of 261 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday.

Udupi taluk reported 42 cases, Kundapura 12 and 11 cases in Karkala.

A total of 10,43,799 people have received first dose of vaccination and 91,43,799 have received both doses and 41,707 people have received booster dose.

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
