Feb 17: Dakshina Kannada reports 43 Covid cases, Udupi adds 35; three deaths in twin districts

Mangaluru/Udupi, Feb 17: Dakshina Kannada on Thursday, February 17, reported 43 new coronavirus cases while Udupi registered 35 cases.

The total number of positive cases in Dakshina Kannada district has risen to 1,35,202 out of which 469 are currently active.

As many as 92 patients were discharged from hospitals on Thursday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,836 out of which two deaths were reported on Thursday.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house.

Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,15,41,680 as fine in 95,570 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

A total of 35 new cases were reported on Thursday. The total active Covid cases have risen to 329. A total of 78 patients were discharged from hospitals on Thursday.

Udupi taluk reported 24 cases, Kundapura 3 and 5 cases in Karkala.

A total of 10,44,743 people have received first dose of vaccination and 919436 have received both doses and 41,972 people have received booster dose.

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
