Bengaluru: Complaint filed against Eshwarappa over saffron flag comment

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Feb 17: A complaint has been lodged against Karnataka revenue minister K S Eshwarappa for his controversial statement that the saffron flag will one day be hoisted at Red Fort.

The complaint was filed by social worker N Hanumegowda on Thursday February 17 at Vidhana Soudha police station.

In his complaint, Hanumegowda said, "Every citizen of this country has a duty to respect the national flag, national song and national emblem. To conspire or insult any of these is an anti-national act and amounts to treason. The police should take serious view of the matter and initiate action."

He urged the police to take strict action as per the law against Eshwarappa.

The minister's statement has sparked a major controversy, with the opposition Congress led by former chief minister and opposition leader Siddaramaiah and KPCC chief D K Shivakumar demanding the resignation of the minister for insulting the national flag and staging a dharna in the state Assembly on Wednesday and Thursday, forcing abrupt adjournment of the House. The BJP leaders have defended their party colleague saying that there was nothing wrong in his statement, and even the chief minister and the home minister have asserted that there is no question of booking Eshwarappa for treason.

whatever BJP do they do with wrongful intention and whean their decisions backfired they put the blame on others or such decisions meet with U turns. Now the brain seemto besettled at right place. I wish along with Eswarappa you too must be summoned by the governor to clarify the matter. Wrong actions need to be punished irrespective of wheter or mot the guilty is own party member. In the absence a of such action our govt. Is simply biased and impartial !

Nation first and religion, personal beliefs within 4 walls. Eshwarappa has uttered anti Indian statement and he deserved to be sacked from Minister's position and action should be taken as per the law.

The statement given by the CM and the HM are disgusting . They are saying that he has not done anything wrong. Time has come to throw this BJP out of power and specially the MP, MLA and Ministers who have not given a single statement opposing him are the clear indications of them supporting him. Now we understand why the PM had said during the rally that in india all the states will have a BJP GOVT so that Eshwarappa's statement to come true. Cant believe these BJP lads who might replace the national flag as well. Its time for all the indians to stand together and teach them lesson in the coming election. If they are in power they can utter statements like this. Earlier when it was non BJP govt whether they work or not such statements have never been given nor so much fights have taken place in the name of religion. Lets all stand as INDIANS and make it BJP mukt Bharat so that there will be peace and harmony as this is what the INDIAN flag stands war. Now it is not a war against BJP VS Congress or BJP VS Other Parties. Now the war is between BJP Vs Indians. Jai Hind

My simple and straightforward observation is that if an ordinary citizen especially someone from minorities had said the same thing he or she would have been slapped with UAPA and would have been behind the bars already. So, why this special treatment to ruling party ministers alone???

Complain is not enough. Proper, legal action needs to be taken immediately. A responsible minister uses such low grade, syreet urchins language which is an insult to entire population of our country but our PM is in hibernation and state home minister is behaving like he is not qualified enough to understand the va3of Natinal flag. The countrymen should wake up because it is the duty of every citizen who loves their country (Bharath Matha) must reply with one voice to take him to legal task.
