Udupi: Driver whose erratic driving caused four deaths sentenced

Udupi, Mar 1: A driver whose recklessness when driving a lorry took away four lives, has been sentenced. The driver in question, Santosh S Ambiga, had caused this accident in the year 2014.

At night on a fateful day in 2014, Ambiga was driving his lorry from the direction of Hebri towards Udupi at high speed and recklessly, when his lorry rammed into a car at Padigara Kaikamba in Perdoor village. The car was moving towards Someshwar at that time.

Occupants of the car, Manorama Bhakta, Manohar Bhakta, Swathi and Sanjana who suffered grave injuries in the accident, had lost their lives. A case relating to the accident had been filed in Hiriadka police station.

Judge of the court, Deepa, who heard arguments of the prosecution and the defence lawyers, concluded that driver Santosh S Ambiga is guilty. He has been sentenced to six months of jail term.

Senior assistant public prosecutor Badrinath Nairy, had argued the case on behalf of the prosecution.
