Mangaluru, Apr 8: St Ann’s Teacher Training Institute, a pioneer institution of Teacher Training at Coastal region of Karnataka, Mangaluru organised – ‘Prathibhotsava’ – Festival of Talents for a week under the theme- ‘Put yourself on view, it brings your talents to Light’.
Sr Maria Lytta A C a retired principal of Sacred Heart TTI Bengaluru, was the chief guest. After the inauguration sister spoke on the importance of talents in present day teaching profession and the need of identification of the unique talents among students. Speaking on the theme of Prathibhotsav she said, “Its necessary for every teacher to identify the hidden potentials among learners and put them on view as it gives them recognition to understand their worth.
A week’s talents display consisted of fourteen cultural competitions, namely Folk Dance, patriotic Singing, Story Telling, Kawali, Elocutions, Rangoli, Mono acting, Drawing, Caption Writing etc.
Prathibhotsava was inaugurated with an invocation by the students. Dhanyashree D V the activity minister of the College gave an overview of Prathibhotsav followed by Folk Dance Competition. It was delightful to see the students in competitive and enthusiastic spiritwith colourful costumes partaking in various competitions. The whole week was filled with joy. It gave them a platform to bring out their hidden talents and an opportunity for them to come out of their stage fright.
Sr Pramila, the principal of the college, Anita D’Cruz and Beena Chaganal -the coordinators of Talents Week, Dhanyashree D V the activity minister were present for the inauguration.
Sr Pramila the principal presided over the valedictory function and honoured the winners of various competitions. Quoting the words of Dr A P J Abdul Kalam the former President of our nation, ‘All of us may not have equal talent but all of us have equal opportunity to develop our talent’ she said, "Grab the opportunities come knocking at your door. Chance once missed will never be back again". Appreciating their enthusiasm, sense of responsibility, hard work and creativity of the students,principal invited them to use these talents in their teaching profession to make learning easy and effective in the classrooms. Two students on behalf of the student body expressed their views on Talents Week and thanked for the opportunity give to them. Jeevitha D El Ed IYear compered the programme as Shwetha B student of I D El Ed welcomed the gathering and Eramma II D El Ed student proposed vote of thanks.
