Udupi, Apr 20: A 49-year-old man, who should have been taking responsibility of his family like other heads of the family, is fighting for his life instead.

Sunil Fernandes, a resident of Badanidiyoor, Thottam here, had many dreams for his family. He wanted to provide good education for his daughters studying in primary school. He was determined to make his dreams a reality through hard work. Unfortunately, luck was not in his favour. In the month of November last year, one morning, he suddenly felt weak and experienced problems while breathing. After a specialized medical check-up, he was diagnosed with oral cancer. Later, he was compelled to undergo regular surgeries and chemotherapy.

Now, Sunil is undergoing specialized treatment in Kasturba Hospital, Manipal. He is in the fourth stage of cancer and fighting for life. The cost of treatment exceeds approximately Rs 50,000 per month.

Sunil's family has already spent over Rs five lac over medical expenses. Now they are unable to afford the hospital expenses. They are under immense pressure. If the required surgeries are not performed, Sunil may have to suffer for life.

The family members are now helplessly watching in dismay as Sunil's health is deteriorating with each passing day. They are now seeking financial help from willing donors to provide treatment for Sunil. They hope his treatment continues and he can lead a normal life again.
