Bengaluru: Muslim religious leaders decide not to use public address system for morning Azaan

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, May 15: The Muslim community has decided not to use public address system for morning call for prayer (Azaan).

In wake of the recent Supreme Court verdict with regards to noise pollution and the circular released by state BJP government, the religious leaders of Muslim community decided not to use mike from 10 pm to 6 am in mosques.

This decision was taken in the meeting of Muslim religious and other leaders presided over by Maulana Sageer Ahmed of Karnataka Ameere Shariat that was held at Darul Uloom Sabeelurrashad of the city.

Ameere Shariyat has requested all the mosques in the state not to make use of mike for the morning Azaan. Sageer Ahmed Maulana also appealed to get permission from concerned officers with regards to the maximum sound limit during normal permitted hours and also to install device to control the sound on mike.

Let us hope Muslims all over the country follow this. Also, hope that eventually the use of loudspeakers will be stopped completely. There shouldn't have been any need of law enforcement. Using loudspeakers for any routinely public affairs is a nonsense, anyway. Why was it at all started?

Can the nation forget the " Shah Bano case " passed by the Supreme Court of India, which was blatantly overturned by the INC, to appease a particular vote bank ??? Great news. Indian Muslims are good and wise. Hope you can resolve the hijab and niqab issues as well. We live in a democratic world and live in peace and harmony is a core for humanity. Recently we have seen many troubles in the name of religions. Don’t give them any opportunities to play politics in belief systems. Let’s pray for peace for India and defat all evil doers in gods name. Amen

It's a welcome move. All said and done but it's necessary for all good disciplinery communities and religions to observe all their festivities or general prayers within the tolerable sound which will not affect the old and vulnerable. If all work hand in hand without affecting others our environment will be peaceful.

(1)I assume “the recent SC verdict” referred to, refers to WP(c)72 of 98 dtd. 18/07/2005 by Justices Lahoti and Bhan. 17 years is “recent”????? (2)This verdict simply upheld the law - called the Noise Pollution Rules,2000, formulated under the Environment Protection Act, to protect the health of the citizens. 22 years is “recent”?????(3)In a civilised Republican Democracy, once a law is passed using lawful procedure , it becomes the law of the land applicable to Amar, Akbar and Antony without any exception./// There is no need for decisions or permissions or agreement necessary to be taken from any “khap panchayat” or bunch of Hypocrites and liars! This is just an eye wash.//Many such deceitful announcements have been made since decades.//Taqquiya.//Without loudspeakers and shouting and screaming and fear-mongering the entire edifice of falsehoods will crumble.///As per the NPR nobody can use loudspeakers in the open between 10pm to 6am and no permission even can be given to use them in “silence zones” – around hospitals, schools/colleges, courts and even God worship places./// As per NPR, a citizen may only use loudspeakers between only 6am to10pm, only with permission from the designated authority and only in compliance of decibel levels for that area. E.g: in a residential area the max. dB level is 55dB during daytime and 45dB during nigthtime./// Whereas the horn-type loudspeakers fitted atop the “political propaganda broadcast and area control-units” are meant to be heard 2kms away and hence are as loud as about 90-100dB at a distance of about 10-30 meters away.///

I know it is called azaan. but u should personally notice da fellow who gives azaan is shouting at da top of his voice in front of da mike. so reduction of volume from both, da speaker volume & da fellow who shouts must lower da sounds. da church bells rings at 06:00 am not at 4:30 - 5:30 am. Moshu, Mangaluru, G R PRABHU, Sameer, Riyadh, Prakash, Manipal should have matured knowledge 2 comment.

I am semi-literate, ignorant and in a continuous process of learning in order to educate myself. Pardon me for attempting to express myself. It seems that only some people have “rights” and a “constitution” but “others”(the unchosen ones) can always be denigrated, reviled and maligned for standing up for their rights.// I agree with your using the correct adjective to describe what brain-washed people are told is a call by “Tarzan– King of the Apes” on “X” nos. of loudspeakers at 90-100decibels.// I know what you mean because I have lived within 40 and 200meters of 2 such structures and been tortured by the evil political and land-mafia dacoits controlling those structures.// I would like to further refine your description to more accurately define the “term” as being “guttural, rasping, ear-piercing, nerve-wracking- shouting and screaming”. There are innumerable “terms”(meant to confuse the ignorant)for the screaming sessions which can last from 2 minutes to 4 hours beginning abt. 4.45am and going on to abt.8.30pm, multiplied by the nos. of such units within 1-2kms of your house.//Only one who is pinched feels the pain.// Those(particularly apologists and ignorami sitting on their “high chairs” inside their “protected-cocooned ivory towers”, smug in their ignorance of ground level realities) who find nothing wrong in being subjected to deliberate, planned, unconsented - aural and mental torture are always welcome to experience and live with it without expressing their pain.// In fact, I would recommend that such people volunteer to spend at least 10 years in the US run “torture cells” of Guantanamo Bay where “terror-suspects” are subjected to “noise/sound torture” as a routine torture method.//For such people noise tourism may have great potential.// I offer my house for 5 years at Rs.2lakh per month for such people to live in continuously for 24 hours so that they never miss the ATN- anytime noisy screaming) 2 minute to 4 hours “guttural, rasping, ear-piercing
