Mangalore, Mar 10: The party which was alleged of abduction and conversion of 18-year old Nitin Poojary, in its defence submitted a memorandum claiming innocence to police commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh here on Thursday March 10.
Representing the Christian community in general and alleged party in particular Congress leader Ivan D’Souza said that the allegations against Jillu were completely fabricated and untrue. Stressing that the allegations were a blot on Catholic community’s integrity, D’Souza demanded that a special officer should be appointed to investigate the case and bring the whole truth out. Singh in turn assured of required action at the earliest.
Speaking to Singh, D’Souza said that the whole incident which is blown out of proportion is a figment of imagination by Nitin who was out to take revenge against Jillu. It is the outcome of Jillu reprimanding Nitin for being irregular at work for his own good summoning Nitin home. There is no denying that an angry Jillu would have raised a hand or two on the boy. Nitin was an employee at juice centre owned by Jillu near Kankanady since 20 days, informed D’Souza.
He further said that a man of Jillu’s Calibre can never indulge in such an act. In fact most of his friends are from the Hindu community to which Nitin belongs. Thereby, the allegations of attempt of forceful conversion or conversion is baseless, he narrated.
He alleged Bajrang Dal activists painting a different picture to an otherwise simple incident and demanded strict action against the Bajrang Dal leaders responsible. Further, these activists have forcible has closed down the juice centre resulting in financial loss to Jillu, said D’Souza.
