New Delhi, March 12 (IANS) Ram Singh alias Vijay, accused of killing Delhi University student Radhika Tanwar, was sent to four days' police custody by a Delhi court Saturday. He was arrested in Mumbai Friday and brought to Delhi earlier in the day.

He was presented in a court in Dwarka district court complex.

"He was brought to Delhi by air and the weapon of offence, a .315 bore country-made pistol has been recovered today (Saturday) morning from the house of Singh's friend Shekhu, a resident of Pilanji village (in south Delhi)," Delhi Police Commissioner B.K. Gupta said.

Ram Singh is accused of gunning down Radhika, a second year student of Ram Lal Anand College. She was shot March 8 on a foot overbridge near her college in south Delhi.

According to police, the accused is a psychopath, obsessed with the victim and stalked her on numerous occasions.

Radhika had even confronted Ram Singh March 5 and slapped him. The incident took place on the same foot overbridge near her college where she was shot dead three days later, said Gupta.

Radhika was a resident of Naraina area in west Delhi. Singh, hailing from Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh, used to work in an embroidery unit near her home.

He was thrashed by the locals for stalking Radhika three-and-a-half-years back, and since then harboured thoughts of killing Radhika to avenge his humiliation, police said.

The 25-year-old accused was nabbed by Delhi Police from Tagore Nagar in Vikhroli suburb in northeast Mumbai Friday night at 11 p.m.
