Kannada TV actor Ravi Prasad dies at age 43

Bengaluru, Sep 14: Kannada theatre and television actor M Ravi Prasad (43) died on Wednesday, September 14 in a private hospital following a brief illness.

Ravi Prasad, son of theatre, television and writer Dr H S Muddegowda is survived by parents, wife, a son and two sisters.

Ravi Prasad entered theatre through Geleyara Balaga and Janadani troupes in Mandya. Later, he stepped into television and cinema and was popularly known as Mandya Ravi.

Ravi Prasad had pursued masters in English and was also a law graduate. But, he chose to pursue a career as an actor.

Ravi Prasad debuted on television with T S Nagabharana's serial Mahamayi and has acted in key roles in most of T N Seetharam's daily soaps. Minchu, Mukta Mukta, Magalu Janaki, Chitralekha, Yashode, Varalakshmi Stores are some of the teleserials that earned him fame and popularity in the television circuit.

In Magalu Janaki he had attracted attention and gained popularity by playing the role of Chandu Bargi and had also acted in a few films including T N Seetharam's recent directorial film Coffee Thota.

He was admitted to a private hospital here following illness but failed to respond to treatment.

The last rites of the actor will be held in Kallahalli near Mandya on Thursday, according to family sources.
