Mangaluru, Mar 10: Director Chethan Mundadi's much awaited Tulu film 'Madipu' witnessed a grand release at Suchitra theatre here on Friday, March 10.

Child artist master Achintya along with Comedy Kiladigalu reality show fame Hitesh and Anish, Prakash Pandeshwar, Ganesh Hegde, Dayanand and other dignitaries declared the film open by lighting the lamp. 'Madipu' produced by Sandeep Kumar under the banner Asta productions released across Dakshina Kannada and Manipal. Movie will be screened in Puttur, Karkala, Mangaluru and Beltangady, PVR, Big Cinemas, Cinepolis and in Manipal.

The film was screened at the 9th Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFF) in the Unsung Incredible India category in February.

Madipu movie potrays Tulu culture and focuses on 'Bhootharadhane' or 'Bhootha Kola' and the relationship of Hindus and Muslims. A Muslim lady named Fathima who had abandoned her son, is going through immense agony. One of her well-wishers, Podayi Byari suggests her to make a vow at the deity of Guruvayanakere to get her lost son back. With a strong belief, Fathima travels all the way to Guruvayanakere.

On the other side of the story the master of the village restricts Kurumbila from impersonating jumadi due to illness. Kurumbila's son Nellaya was adamant to replace his father to impersonate jumadi during the Bhoota kola. Kurumbila did not want his son to impersonate jumadi. The story reaches a point where Fathima reaches Guruvayanakere and meets the master of the village and Kurumbila and narrates the story of her lost son. The master of the village and Kurumbila assure her that the deity will definitely unite Fathima with her lost son. Whether Fathima will meet her son forms the crux of the story.

The story has been well narrated by director Chethan Mundadi and cinematographer Ganesh Hegde has done a great job with the light effects and beautifully captured the film. Dialogues by H Girish Rao alias Jogi are very enriching. It is a big thumbs up for Chethan Mundadi's debut directorial venture.

Ace music director V Manohar has composed the music. Editing has been handled well by Srikanth.

Sardar Sathya, Ila Vitla, MK Mata, Dr Seetha Kote, Nagaraja Rao, Chetan Rai Kini, Sujatha Shetty, Hanumanthappa, Jyothi Rai, Baby Shreya and Dayanand Bettapadi form the cast of 'Madipu'.
