Dressed in the traditional attire, the pyaare of Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya, charming Sohail Khan was here in the city to be a part of Shasthavu Boothanatheshwara temple celebrations.
Being his first ever visit to the city, he was all praise for the greenery and the serene atmosphere which he described as ‘Lovely’. Now on you will often find Sohail visiting Mangalore, says the actor with a smile.
Hailing from a family with strong background in movies, Sohail has established himself as a director, producer as well as an actor. Ask him what he prefers the most? He gently puts it as the direction and production. Acting, he says, is kind of effortless but the creative part of movies is truly fascinating. He is also learning editing. “I love the world of films and want to serve the industry in any capacities”, says he.
He started his career as a film producer and director making his directorial debut with the 1997 action thriller Auzaar which starred his brother Salman and Sanjay Kapoor. He then directed both of his brothers Salman and Arbaaz in the hit film Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya (1998) and the Hello Brother. In 2002, he wrote, produced, directed and made his acting debut in Maine Dil Tujhko Diya. He had his first hit with the film Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya? (2005) in which he co-starred with his brother Salman Khan. He also produced Partner which starred his brother Salman and Govinda in the lead roles and was a box office success.
He has movies like Lakeer, Aryan, Salaam-e-ishq, Do knot disturb, Krishna Cottage and I-Proud to be an Indian among others to his credit. Sohail personally enjoyed working for I – Proud to be an Indian.
Sohail considers Kajol as a very graceful actress. Working with her in Pyaar Kiya to Darna Kya was a fantastic experience according to him.
Besides his natural exuberance which lights up the screen, the actor has a lesser-known adventurous streak to his side. He loves flying. “I always wanted to be pilot. I’ am giving my exams by the end of this month. I’m living my dream”, says the very enthusiastic Sohail.
Sohail is generally a happy-go –lucky kind of a person. He loves spending quality time with his friends and family. Rajma Chawal still tops the list of his favourite cuisines.
A movie with brother Arbaaz and Partner-2 are his immediate projects.
