Fable From the Era That Just Ended
I gazed outside the sanatorium window at the sunset,
Falling into deep reverie, lost in a streams of thoughts.
Reports figured no remedy but my days are numbered.
A castle in the air, fable from the era that just ended.
My aspiration - my young lad, soaring high,
Dressed in uniform against the winds he flies.
A dream unfolding from the depth of my chest,
To see him rise and get him at his best.
My little one with her puerile desire,
Hopes to hold a stethoscope and aspire.
To serve the needy and heal with grace,
A noble path she longs to embrace.
Ones who shaped me, gave me their all,
Walks beside me, heed my call.
Life’s pilgrimage, their quest complete,
Their love and sacrifice, bittersweet.
A humble abode a little lawn,
A tiny pet that plays at dawn.
A place of warmth, yet where foes appear,
Masked in envy, lurking near.
Through time, each moment built with care,
A gray age shared with one so dear.
Hand in hand, through snow we tread,
In quiet peace, where love is spread.
Yet, silent sobs behind closed doors,
Conceal emotions, hidden scores.
Faces masked, their truths unknown,
Pain unspoken, sorrows grown.
Doddering towards the end, I sigh,
Could I have cared more- Should I try?
Health neglected, time now fleet,
Regrets and wishes left incomplete.
I gazed outside the sanitarium window at the sunset,
Falling into deep reverie, lost in a stream of thoughts.
